British school children in World War II were given the job of collecting rosehips from hedgerows, to make into rosehip syrup as a source of vitamin C - which was difficult to obtain from food due to the German U boat blockade.
There are many different species of Rosehip including R. pouzinii, R. corymbifera, R. glauca & R.Canina, which all contain different quantities of the phenols, polyphenols and ascorbic acids found in these fruits.
Rosa Canina is the variety which has been shown to contain the greater concentration of these potentially beneficial components. Natures Aid Rosehip Capsules are made using a concentrated extract from Rosa Canina rosehips only.
