Brilliant little game. Very easy to learn. We play this with our 5 and a half year old who is cat mad. She grasped the game quickly, though she needs some practice in keeping a straight face when she draws a good card. Each round can be short, lasting several minutes, which is perfect for younger kids. It's great for memory, observation, numeracy and strategic thinking with a good dose of luck thrown in so it doesn't get predictable. She wins as often as we do which means she doesn't get discouraged from playing. We have not tired of playing this game and have taken it overseas with us as it doesn't need much room so can be played in waiting rooms etc. The box is oversized given the size of the cards, but we happily make room for it in handbags because its such a great game. Often enough our daughter has voluntarily switched off the TV to play it. The illustrations are cute and colourful and the packaging is quite handsome so it's a good gift. I will definitely be checking out other Gamewright games. Another cat card game that we also like (but not as much as this one!) is Crazy Cats which is a cat version of Uno.

Found this in the US a few years ago and have since had to purchase it many times as kept giving it away to younger kids, and we and our now 19 year old daughter still love it! It's easy to play, helps them with their numbers and can be very competitive! My pal even bought it to play with her Mum as we introduced them to it and she (at a very youthful 82!) loved it so much, she didn't want to stop playing it. Thoroughly recommend this game.

Addicted to it. So simple but keeps us entertained and we are adults!! Good to keep our memory exercised. Bought it for grandson but had to buy my own after playing it with his family. Take it to games night with friends. Also to play whilst resting after 3 continuous games of badminton. Doesn't take much room in the cupboard. One to take with you on holiday

My son got this card game given by a friend as a gift. Back then he was maybe 8 or 9. We all love it. It's a quick, fun game that we often play in the evenings as you don't always want to play an hour long board game. And there is a bit of easy maths as well by adding all the numbers. We keep on buying it now as gifts for others as well. I'd say the right age is prob from 6 or 7. My older son is now 11 and still happy to play it.

Compact, Quick and FUN!
We were looking for a quick game that we could play on game nights between longer sessions. This fits in just perfectly. The game has very simple rules (the lowest score wins), and it is player ended (first person that believes they have the lowest score, says "Rat a tat cat" and brings the game to it's final round). It goes by quick. A game can last anywhere from 60 seconds to a couple of minutes, especially once you get the rules down, cards are flying. Everyone seems to enjoy it too, all age groups, and the strategy and counting aspect is simple enough that my 5 year old can play without assistance, and often beats the adults!The game itself is just cards, in a much larger, sturdy cardboard box. If you have other Gamewright card games, it's the same kind of box you get with Sleeping Queens, Zeus on the Loose, etc. The game itself doesn't take much space (four cards for each person on the table at a time, plus a draw deck and a discard pile - that's it) so this makes a good game to take with you on vacations, traveling or while visiting friends. The rules are simple enough to explain and lure others into a game as well.The only two complaints are very small... First is the "6" card. It has a giant green cat balloon being lead by small rats. It is indeed a "Rat" card and not a desirable "cat" card despite the cat being depicted as the focus. Also the "4" is very slim and stylized and looks like a "1". Have had confusion over a younger player and an elderly player believing they had a "1" when it was really a "4". Do these little things ruin the game? Absolutely not, but it is something you might want to point out to those new to the game.Also don't expect lengthy game sessions. Rat-a-Tat-Cat is fun for the fast paced, quick card game that it is. It's not nearly as popular with my kids as "Horse Show" or "Sleeping Queens" but they always demand to play it in between games, and that says a lot.
