Gut recherchierte Geschichte über das Leben von Carl Zeiss und die Entwicklung seiner Firma. Interessant ist dabei, dass Zeiss dem damals offenbar üblichen "Pröbeln" (eine Art "Trial and Error"-Ansatz) bei der Entwicklung und dem Zusammenbau von Mikroskopen durch Einbindung von Wissenschaftlern der Universität Jena - insbesondere Ernst Abbe - eine theoretische Grundlage entgegensetzte. Darauf fußte dann die hohe und beständige Qualität der Mikroskope und damit der Erfolg des Unternehmens.
