Batman the Killing Joke: The Deluxe Edition

Description:

About this item:

Critically acclaimed author Alan Moore redefined graphic novel story-telling with Watchmen and V for Vendetta. In Batman: The Killing Joke, he takes on the origin of comics' greatest super-villain, The Joker, and changes Batman's world forever.

ONE BAD DAY.

According to the grinning engine of madness and mayhem known as the Joker, that's all that separates the sane from the psychotic. Freed once again from the confines of Arkham Asylum, he's out to prove his deranged point. And he's going to use Gotham City's top cop, Commissioner Jim Gordon, and his brilliant and beautiful daughter Barbara to do it.

Now Batman must race to stop his archnemesis before his reign of terror claims two of the Dark Knight's closest friends. Can he finally put an end to the cycle of bloodlust and lunacy that links these two iconic foes before it leads to its fatal conclusion? And as the horrifying origin of the Clown Prince of Crime is finally revealed, will the thin line that separates Batman's nobility and the Joker's insanity snap once and for all?

Batman: The Killing Joke is Alan Moore's unforgettable meditation on the razor-thin line between sanity and insanity, heroism and villainy, comedy and tragedy. Leaning into the 'failed comedian' Joker origin and playing on the 'One Bad Day' trope turning a regular Joe into a supervillain, the shocks of this epic Joker tale are in his actions and Batman's reactions. This Deluxe Edition features Bolland's own colouring of his original artwork, a bonus Bolland-penned story with many artwork and cover features. Highly recommended for revisiting an epic story and a must for Holland fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best edition of an excellent book.

G.S. · 4 February 2024

An excellent story with some of the best art in comics. Recoloured by the artist, with some retouching, this looks much better than the original edition. It has since been disowned by it’s author as sexist; I would characterize it more finely as being a tale about men which doesn’t leave space for the tales of the women.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great comic. Great condition. Would buy from seller again.

Arrived in great condition - what a great story too! The artwork is amazing!Although the comic itself is very short, leaves a lot to be desired - the plot could of easily been developed further.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Classic Batman and Joker Story

B. · 28 April 2022

The book is a classic Batman story that explores Batman and Joker relationship in just a few short pages. It is well worth the read and the only negative thing I could say about this comicbook is that it doesn't feature it's original vibrant art style that it released with. Still better than the movie though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Batman: The Killing Joke Deluxe (New Edition)

K.J.M. · 21 May 2023

The Joker has escaped from Arkham Asylum and is willing to test his theory that everyone is only one bad day from madness. Setting his sights on Commissioner Gordon, he aims to strip back all sense of sanity from him and break his spirit once and for all.Moore's key 'Batman' storyline is a deranged but brilliant piece of art which is as shocking today as when it first came out.
