The Curious Garden

Description:

About this item:

This gorgeously illustrated picture book opens to a detailed spread of a gray city. If you look closely, you can spot the tiny figure of a red-headed boy, Liam, walking down the street. THE CURIOUS GARDEN tells the story of how this young boy discovers a door that leads up to abandoned railroad tracks where he finds a forgotten garden. He cares for the plants and helps them flourish, and they gradually spread throughout the city, transforming it, bit by bit, into a lush, green world.

With spare text and breathtaking illustrations, and a classic feel reminiscent of THE LITTLE HOUSE and MIKE MULLIGAN AND HIS STEAM SHOVEL, this is a magical picture book about the power that one small person can have to transform the world.

It shows how people catch on to a good thing. I love the wholly positive feel of the book. I love the pages without words too.My 4 year old loved it, and asked all the right questions, and my 2 year old really likes it too, at his level. It's a beautifully written and beautifully illustrated book that tots enjoy at their level, with us on hand to answer their ponderings. For sure one to get. It may well be that book that they wish to read to their young.

Fantastic book about how one person can change the world. As a Grade 1 teacher I read this to my new class every year as it has a strong, positive message that no matter your age with care, passion and determination you can create wonderful things.

Great for any age (past chewing on books ) with vivid interesting illustrations and a proactive, imaginitive protagonist

I recommend Peter Brown! And this book is beautiful!

Beautiful book, beautiful story and illustrations, with a nice message children understand from the beginning... like the others Peter Brown wrote.

Wonderful

I saw this book in the bookstore but didn't buy it there and then. When I went back they didn't have it anymore, so I was very excited to find it here!I love it! The story is lovely, the illustrations are captivating and I think Peter Brown is a fantastic writer/illustrator.I read it to my nephews and they loved it too, they took it home to read to their mom. It's the story of Liam, a little boy who finds a garden in the old train tracks and brings it back to life. He even sings to the plants! I thought that was cute!Update: I got this book again to send it to a nephew for his birthday! that's how much we love it!

... alle anderen sollten den Highlinepark in New York besuchen. Traumhaft.Schön illustriertes Buch, sehr nette Geschichte. Ideal für Kinder die Ihr Englisch trainieren wollen oder Erwachsene, die ein bischen Kind bleiben möchten. Außerdem ein Appell auch an die Umwelt zu denken.
