It is split into two narratives with the biographer and Pope Francis and it works very well.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book
Still reading, but it is a fascinating look at the life of the Pope in his own words going from World War 2 to the present day, covering many of the key political events of those times that had substantial effects upon the world.
4.0 out of 5 stars Perfecttion
I found this book to be an inspiration. You don't have to be a Catholic to get guidance on your every day life. Just remember to do into others as you would have done to yourself.

Words of wisdom, love and peace -VOICE OF HOLINESS
It was my privilege as an Australian author to read and write review for biography LIFE My Story Through History OF His Holiness Pope Francis. This biographical book of His Holiness is divided into fourteen chapters starting with the second world war when His Holiness was only four years old. Each chapter describes one significant world event that marked the century. Some chapters are positive world changes such as the first landing on the moon that is followed with big excitement all over the world, the fall of the Berlin wall, uniting of Europe, etc. On the contrary, these are chapters which marked the century with devastating events such as atom bombs which ended the second world war, the terrorist attack on September 11. COVID 19 pandemic and others unfortunate and tragic events during His Holiness life. His Holiness gives insight where he was when the event struck and how he experienced it following a detailed analysis. At the start of the book, in chapter one covering the second world war, His Holiness devotes a significant amount of writing about his family especially his mother's devastation for what happened to Jewish people and later he writes of his own. Thinking about the value of human life and that is given by God His Holiness in this first chapter continues to talk about present time and his devastation for what is happening in Yemen, Sudan, Ukraine, Middle East and other places of the world where lives of people are in danger obviously reminding him of the second world war.
Life Lessons from the Pope
In this latest book, Pope Francis speaks of Life. The most precious book, he says, is life itself. Those who live long have the opportunity to read the book of their own life for themselves and offer it to others to read and discover history. There is so much to learn from this book, about the Pope, the church, the world, and of course God's ways and purpose in human history.
Amazing Story
What an amazing story of the Life of the late Pope Francis. This is his telling of his family, his schooling, and his amazing work. Becoming a priest later in life, becoming a bishop, and then a cardinal. All his work with the less fortunate, always putting everyone before himself. I am sure he would have given the shirt off his back, and maybe he did. Living in less glamorous housing at the Vatican, instead of the more palatial housing other Pope's have used. He did so much for so many, I am sure their is so much more we have not heard about. Rest in Heavenly Peace Beloved Pope Francis!!
Unique Life Perspectives
It is said that as a person ages, their earliest memories become sharper in focus and that holds true for this uniquely introspective book. With contextual summaries establishing what world events swirled around the man during momentous moments in his personal and professional life, Pope Francis candidly remembers and recounts the journey of his life. Readers will quickly find admiration and empathy for the Pope’s family; his loving remembrances of his grandparents, parents, siblings and house-hold maids and occasional nannies and caretakers are perhaps the true highlights of the book, given the obvious love and affection that he still holds them all in over 80 years later. The selection of world events to which he provides commentary range from the obvious (World War Two and the Holocaust), to the obscure (indulging in a lengthy and spirited series of memories regarding soccer World Cup games and Maradona’s goal-scoring), and he parallels his journey from the child of immigrant Italians right to the moment he becomes the Pope with plain-speaking advice drawn from a lifetime of caring for the poor and marginalized. He is not a Pope to make pithy Scripture references or profound statements; rather, he is a man who views the world on simple terms and seeks to embrace the good in all of humanity. As an autobiography-of-sorts, there are topics that he skirts (he summarizes his almost-marriage to an Italian actress in no more than several sentences), and world events he is silent upon (he doesn’t comment upon the attempted assassination of John-Paul II, nor does he truly reckon with the decades-long sexual abuse scandals of the Catholic Church in any meaningful manner), and he hand-waves the ‘period of exile’ he suffered late in his career when he was effectively ‘bumped down’ several notches on the ladder of career ascension; however, he delves deep into the morality of many hot-button topics, from the usage of nuclear weapons to end World War Two to the defeat of the soul that he feels abortion is.As a socialist-minded Pope, there is some degree of soap-box theology given to topics such as transgenderism and illegal migration, not to mention copious amounts of time spent on climate change alarmism. These are to be expected to anyone who has paid attention to this Pope whatsoever since he rose to the position. However, the true balancing act of this book is that despite the focus on headline-catching news items, he more than makes up for it in his kind words towards the poor and youth and his avowed anti-war stance. This Pope is, after all, a humble and gentle man who genuinely believes what he says in his heart, and he is indeed a reformer that the Catholic Church, by electing him, explicitly cried out for. Though he takes barbs at those within ‘and’ without the Church who oppose his methods and reformation efforts he does so in a manner that indicates that he is aware of them yet doesn’t feel they will prevent his reforms. It is a fine book about a good man that perhaps loses its way in certain topics and certain memories. But it is highly readable and his early memories of those who filled his life and his childhood home in those years and shaped him into the priest and the man he would become are, to my mind, the best parts of the book. In other words, come for the man’s take on the big headlines; stay for his stories about his beloved grandparents and bumble beginning.
